Frequently Asked Questions

What services do you provide?

We provide in-home, private tutoring and mentorship. Our tutors teach all the major academic subjects, including languages and the sciences, as well as standardized tests such as the ACT and SAT. Along with being fully qualified to teach their subjects our teachers also take time to teach their students skills such as how to organize a resume, interview for a job, and apply for college. We believe that knowledge – tutoring – must be put into full effect with guidance – mentoring. That is why they are both included in one package at no extra cost.

 How do I get started?

Follow the link to the ‘Get started’ page so we can send you a quote. Then you can fill out the ‘request a tutor’ form so we can pair you with a tutor and you can purchase a package. We offer our services in packages of 12, 18, 24, 30, and 36 hours. You have nine months - approximately one whole school year - to use all your hours.

How are services structured?

Upon being matched with a tutor, parents can schedule sessions for their student directly with the tutor at a time that works best. The duration and frequency of sessions are up to the parents to decide. We recommend 1.5 hours per session for academic subjects and 2 hours per session for standardized tests. For frequency, we recommend that students meet with tutors at least 2 sessions per week in order to stay actively engaged with the material.

What if my student needs help in more than one subject?

Often times our tutors are qualified to teach several subjects within each discipline (biology and chemistry for example). In that case, the same tutor can teach your child various subjects. This is good for maintaining a relationship between your child and their tutor. If your child needs help in different subjects (Spanish and algebra for example) – then we would be happy to provide your student with one tutor for each subject at no additional cost.

What if I have more than one student?

You can purchase one package and use the hours for different children provided that they are both either tutored academic subjects or tutored in standardized tests. If you have one child who needs help in an academic subject and the other who needs help in standardized tests then we can create a package that will accommodate all of your needs.

Who will tutor my child?

One of our qualified tutors whose profiles are visible on our website. Before your student begins sessions we will provide you with background information on the tutor that we are considering pairing them with to make sure that you are satisfied with them.

Have the tutors been screened?

Atlanta Scholars has a rigorous verification process to ensure that our tutors have excellent academic qualifications and a high capacity for tutoring and mentorship. They have all passed criminal history background checks.

How do I pay for services?

We accept all major credit cards online via our secure payment portal. You can pay for your services in one easy installment.

What is your refund policy?

If our service does not meet your expectations, you have until the second session with your tutor to request a different tutor or choose to receive a 75% refund on your services.

Testimonials

  • Our tutor is Kareem and we are so lucky to have him. He’s always on time, prepared, and engaged for the tutoring sessions. He has a wealth of academic and cultural experiences, so he can explain school assignments from a very practical and first-person perspective. As a tutor, Kareem is motivating but also willing to challenge a student to help them discover their potential.

  • My boys have been meeting with Kareem to review grammar concepts and improve their writing skills. Kareem is very professional and has a knack for engaging my children, and making the sessions fun. He's very knowledgable, and knows when to challenge my children to put more thought into their answers and writings, without making them feel as though the information is "over their heads". He's talented in coming up words that are current in my children's vocabulary, to help them find the common root words to decipher new words introduced in school. He's helped them improve their writing skills, and has coached them with questions to ask themselves to ensure they are getting across to the reader their intention when writing their papers. As a parent, it's comforting to know my children are being well taught and look forward to their sessions with Kareem.

  • I highly recommend Atlanta Scholars for tutoring! They tutored my high school senior last semester and my son would not have passed World Lit without Kareem's help!  Kareem is excellent at seeing the problems and addressing the issues with patient persistence! My son enjoyed working with Kareem and appreciated his knowledge and ability to explain the work process for each issue.
